Signature are delighted to confirm the appointment of four new members to our board of trustees.
The four new members bring a range of skills and knowledge to our board which will help us with our ambitious growth plans over the coming years.
Our four new board members are:
Carolyn Kerr is the Head of Learning and Development, at the Cabinet Office having previously worked at the Scottish Qualifications authority (SQA). Carolyn will bring vast experience from working within another awarding organisation to the Signature board.
John Mancini has been a BSL teacher, across multiple levels and an assessor with Signature for a total of 30 years. In the past, John has been heavily involved in Deaf football and volunteering with the National Deaf Children’s Society. John will bring his extensive teaching knowledge to our board.
Adam Schembri is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of Birmingham. Adam has conducted research in sign language linguistics for more than 25 years. As a hearing second language signer of BSL, Adam is interested in helping to bridge the gap between academic research on BSL and BSL teaching.
Emma Winfield trained as a solicitor working with a range of organisations, including charities. Emma has extensive knowledge of charity and trust legislation and guidance. Emma is also a Signature student, currently studying Level 6 in BSL, so will bring a student’s perspective to our board that will help us to understand better how we can support our students throughout their learning journey.
Lindsay Foster, Executive Director at Signature said: “We are excited to welcome all our new board members to Signature. It’s an exciting time to be joining us as we look to grow following a couple of years of consolidation during the pandemic. We have exciting plans as an organisation and we are thrilled to have such a variety of talent on our board to help us achieve these.”
