Recently returning to its original name, RNID is a national charity dedicated to creating an inclusive world for those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or suffering from conditions such as tinnitus.
As well as offering day-to-day support, RNID’s work involves campaigning, funding research, providing accessible information, supplying communication training, and offering practical advice to those suffering from hearing loss.
We have built a longstanding relationship with RNID since they were involved with creating CACDP almost forty years ago. We got in touch with them to share their thoughts and memories of how they became involved with the original Communications Skills project.
“Signature has played just a critical role over its 40-year history and has supported almost half a million people to learn British Sign Language. RNID was there at the beginning and helped get CACDP off the ground and 40 years later we continue to work together as partner organisations. British Sign Language is the means by which many deaf people can be included in everyday life and Signature, as the leading awarding body for deaf communication qualifications in the UK, is at the very heart of ensuring this language grows and flourishes. On behalf of everyone at RNID we wish Signature every success for the next 40 years!” Mark Atkinson, Chief Executive – RNID
