Right support, right place, right time – exploring the impact of welfare reform and access to work changes on those with Sensory Impairment.

This conference will focus on all aspects of the welfare reform agenda. There will be presentations from key speakers about welfare reform, the welfare to work and access to work agendas.

Key representatives from the Deaf Sector will examine how the sector has been responding the reform agenda. Action on Hearing Loss will be presenting new qualitative research on employment and their recent report on employment experiences ‘Opportunity Blocked’.

Sense and the Disability Benefits Consortium will be talking through their current welfare campaigns relating to Employment and Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payments. An AtW provider will talk about developing a new business model in the current climate.

The conference will also assess the impact of the new Personal Independence Payments and Employment Support Allowance, and examine the issues relating to welfare provision for the sight impaired.
